What happens during a consultation?

Our Powell Injector Lacey walks us through what that looks like!

During a consultation I like to discuss the patients aesthetic goals.  What are their favorite features and what are they looking to improve?

We discuss budgets and what they are open to regarding what they are looking to spend. I always tell patients that we have procedures for all budgets.  For example, while Halo does a great job improving melasma in as little as one treatment, if they do not have the budget for that procedure, patients can also get great results with 2-3 VI peels (recommendations vary per patient and severity of melasma).

We discuss downtime and what they are willing to deal with regarding after the procedure is complete.  An example would be that  BBL and Botox offer very little downtime.  Filler, Halo, and microneedling can be associated with more swelling and downtime, so procedures will be recommended according to an individual's schedule and ability or willingness to have downtime after a procedure.

Timeline is addressed for a series of treatments.  I recommend a number of treatments and follow up. Sometimes it can be hard to give an exact number of laser treatments or syringes of filler etc, but I try to give a good estimate of the number of treatments and the amount of time I would like spaced out between treatments. There are some procedures that will work very well together to accomplish a patient’s goal, but we sometimes need time between them to do them safely and for the most effective result.

It is important to go over a patient's medical history, so we do discuss an individual's medical history prior to any procedure because some skincare products & medications may need to be stopped ahead of time, and in certain instances,  I may need to prescribe some medications ahead of the procedure prophylactically.

We discuss the different options we have not only in procedures that would work best for each individual, but also the different products and why I would recommend one product over another (ex-duration of action, rewards programs like alle/aspire)

And no consultation would be complete until the patient is confident and well informed of their options, so I leave time to discuss any patient questions and concerns, so they are able to leave feeling empowered and able to make the best decision for their treatment plan as possible.
