WHAT IS DYSPORT?
Dysport is Galderma’s (the makers of Restylane) version of Botox. Dysport treats moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows by reducing specific muscle activity. Wrinkles are caused by repeated movements and muscle contractions, which means they can even develop in younger adults. One injection into each of 5 points between and above the eyebrows temporarily prevents muscle contractions that cause frown lines, leaving the rest of your face to move naturally. In other words, no frozen look, just natural-looking results. You can control your look instead of your look controlling you.
A unit is a measurement used to determine the amount of Dysport given, for instance, some treatment areas need only 5 units while others may use 20! 3 Dysport units would be equal to about one Botox unit.
Dysport injections have also been shown to slim the appearance of a “square face” by concentrating injections in the Masseter Muscle (the muscle around the jawline). With proper administration, this muscle will relax and actually give the face a narrower appearance. This has been found to be particularly effective for people who clench and grind their teeth at night.
It’s also virtually painless! Most people report no pain at all with Dysport injections. There is no numbing medicine administered for these injections because none is needed. The needle used for Dysport is much thinner than the average needle such as those used to draw blood. Dysport is one of the safest cosmetic treatments available.
