Chemical vs Physical Sunscreen

We all have to wear sunscreen/SPF. Regardless of the weather, it's a daily commitment. The SPF in your makeup is NOT enough to protect your skin. If you don’t wear sunscreen daily, start now. It’ll save you time down the road trying to correct what could’ve been prevented.

Do you know the difference between chemical sunscreen and physical sunscreen?

Chemical:

  • Absorb UV rays

  • Active ingredient: oxybenzone/avobenzone/octisalate/etc.

  • Tend to be easier to rub into the skin

  • Usually works for all skin tones because no white cast

ZO Skin Health:

  • Smart Tone

  • Daily Sheer

Physical:

  • Reflect UV rays

  • Active ingredient: titanium dioxide/zinc oxide

  • Better for sensitive skin types

  • Also known as mineral sunscreen

  • Can leave white cast on some skin tones

ZO Skin Health:

  • Sunscreen+Primer

  • Broad Spectrum

  • Sunscreen+Powder

There isn’t a “better or worse”, it all depends on what you like best on your skin. As long as you’re committed to wearing sunscreen daily, you’re doing yourself a favor. The sun is the strongest aging factor, so protecting early on will prevent early signs of aging!
